X3. Woo. It was really the highlight of my day. My week, even. I mean, it was not the best movie evah, but it was very enjoyable. I know there are some people who are like all "ohmigosh, deviation from canon!" but they do that to every other book-movie adaption, because otherwise it just wouldn't work. Besides, X-Men canon has as many discontinuities as there are holes in swiss cheese.

What I didn't like:
  • SCOTT. WTF. His death was completely understated. You don't even know how he died. Did she disintergrate him like she did the rest or did she kiss him to death like a Dementor? I wanted them to explore all the possibilities that were raised in the comics here- like how Dark Phoenix needed Scott's beams for her power.

  • XAVIER. Not just his death, but the entire personality transplant thing. WTF CHARLES.

  • The deaths, in general. Pointless, pointless deaths, just so they could CGI everything. So, Dark Phoenix, not the most stable of creatures, I think we got the point when she like, y'know, killed the love of her life. WHICH WE DIDN'T EVEN SEE.

  • Famke's dye job.

  • The fact that they DEPOWERED EVERYONE. Seriously. And all those who didn't get depowered got dead. I actually don't have a problem with Rogue's depowering, because it makes sense to me. She's not as strong a character as she is in the comics, and I can see where she's coming from. The only thing about it that annoyed me was that she got the cure because of Bobby. I know she says that it was "what she wanted", but it felt so unreal and insincere.

  • How Logan's pants stayed in one piece while the rest of the world didn't. I mean. Dude. Can't we have a nice pervy moment?

  • What I liked:
  • That Hank was really shaken by Leech and the fact that there was even the slightest possibility that he could be human-looking again. It really made me feel for him.

  • Mystique. I love how they wrote her. She was absolutely brilliant. And hot.

  • The Worthingtons. Because although Warren (III) had so little screen time, he was lovely when he was on. His dad was also great, and you could feel the genuine concern for his son, even though the script wanted it to be otherwise. Little Warren made me wibble so much.

  • The really subtle changes in Xavier and Magneto's facial features when they were young. All hail good make-up/CGI.

  • The little cameos of familiar mutants. Like, that little boy with the aeroplanes who was in the 2nd movie, and the Stepfords. Though, wasn't Arclight a man?

  • The Danger Room session. It really showed you that the X-Men knew what they were doing, and their little quirks. Like how Piotr got Rogue to absorb his powers in the nick of time. Logan was kinda reckless and careless, which really makes sense, because he knew that it was a Danger Room session, and he wasn't taking it seriously, and it's great. Also? Two words. FASTBALL SPECIAL.

  • The iceskating scene. It was so cute.

  • Stan Lee. Hee.

  • Iceman vs. Pyro. That was awesome cool. Though, like [livejournal.com profile] guiltyschu said, it was kinda DBZ.

  • Just, Pyro. He was so arrogant, it's great.

  • "I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!" Ahahaha. Suddenly everything makes sense. Vinnie Jones is so cool.

  • "He robbed 7 banks. At once." Hee, Jamie.

  • Things that I liked yet didn't like at the same time:
  • The exploding Cure-in-the-sky. The Effect was cool, but, WTF, cure-in-the-sky?

  • Like I mentioned before, I love the Worthingtons, but hate that they had so little screen time. Warren had so much potential, y'know?

  • The incompetency of the government. It showed how powerful these mutants truly were, but, just, god, they were really incompetent.

  • THE BIT AT THE END OF THE CREDITS. It was so Ultimate!Psylocke-Kwannon. THE REVOLVING DOOR OF DEATH STRIKES AGAIN.

So, they're making a spinoff Wolverine movie?

    No.

I was suggesting that Movie!Arclight didn't look all that feminine anyway.

HIS SKIN WAS FLAYING OFF, but not the denim. Oh no! It could stand the test of the Phoenix!

And no, Arclight was a female. Phillipa Sontag.

Did anyone notice how his wifebeater was magically fixed after having two bones stabbed into his stomach? And then Magneto threw him through the forest and of course his shirt got fucked up again.

.........just a thought because I actually noticed it. :P

Can someone tell me why they needed to move an ENTIRE BRIDGE to get to the island? All they needed was a little floaty piece of metal, didn't they?

Also, all the cars headlights on the aforementioned bridge were on at the end of the movie. Discontinuity! Bah.

    But YAY AWESOME:D

    Revolving door of death. Heh.

Eh. Magneto's dramatic like that. He probably just wants to intimidate people.

And I noticed the headlights too! They had to have some form of lighting for the shots, I guess >.>

    Stumbled here randomly.

    Love your review.

Completely agree with Scott's death, very much understated!
