there are a couple of things.

1. the mouse on this computer refuses to work. it drives me insane just tabbing all over the place, because lj is really hard to navigate like that.

2. chinana is filled with fun things and food. i feel really fat, but entertained. there is no snow yet, as it has been an unusually warm winter, but i have not given up hope.

3. mum just walked in with a hot pan full of vinegar. apparently this will help with germ-killing. i am skeptical, but a) i'm not sick, and would like to keep it that way and b) i really like vinegar.

4. i miss summer :\ i also miss everyone currently stuck in summer. no one awesome is ever on msn anymore. this makes me sad. though, if people give me their mobile numbers i could possibly sms them.

5. christmas! chinese people just use it as an excuse to go out and have fun. dinner last night was incredibly satisfying. i wish that they'd stop playing christmas carols on repeat in supermarkets, though.

6. my mum's family is clearly insane.

7. my dad's family is even more insane.

8. i need to upload some of these photos.

9. i have shiny paid account! and iconspace. thanks to kathy. who will be leaving me for SIX MONTHS next year, whoring herself off to hot canadians. i eye her. her and her shiny trip.

10. did i mention that my family is insane?

11. my cousin has started working for the ioc. this intrigues me. a lot.

an itinery, so far. )

chinana is so crowded.

I'm at Singapore airport right now typing as fast as I can on the computer that I had to wait 30 minutes for. It's 7:21pm and my flight doesn't leave until 9:15. So I have an hour and a half to waste before going back to BRisbane.

Yeah.

So. I'm wearing this long black coat thing. Very Matrix. Possibly except for the huge McDonalds badge that I stuck on it. But otherwise, very Matrix.

Ehhh. School's already started. And finished. I'll be arriving in BRisbane at 6am tomorrow. Mum says that I have to go to school after showering and changing and 3 hours of rest. I kinda wish there were more time difference between China and Australia. Then I can not go to school for a day and blame it on jet lag.

Well. 15 minutes is up.

So. Yeah. I'll just be going now.

WooHoo! Just bought Life For Rent yesterday. It is pretty kickass. Favourite song at the moment: Mary's In India.

All family memebers have arrived for Chinese New Year, and my cousin and I will be cooking tonight. (But we won't be doing dishes, yay!)

My aunt bought me pants and a jumper, which are cool.

I really want to go to the movies to see Silver Hawk, which stars Michelle Yueng (from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and Richie Jen (Taiwanese singer, so so hot... :). Ahhhh.

Yeah.

~Random thought~ I'm thirsty. And I want to watch TV.

Yeah.

Heh. Just changed the layout thingiemajig. Heh. I thought the colour scheme was funny... 'Leprechaun'... heh... :)

Now I just need to customise the commenty thingie...
heywilma: (Default)
I'm going to visit my aunt this afternoon and won't be back until Tuesday. But then, it's not as if it's really big news or anything...

Hmmm. I should go review ittykat's fic, shouldn't I? Ah well.

Ehhhh. No one's on MSN.

~Random Thought~ There is a mouse pad beneath my mouse.

Update on wart: the scab's reformed, but it's gone all small and such. So! Bright side: no scar. Yay. It'll be gone in a week.

*Counts on fingers* 4 days until Chinese New Year.

In other news, I just joined another forum (Now I'm in about 9 o.O). This one is the first Asian people forum I joined, and is Dido orientated. Speaking of Dido... I really should go out and get Life For Rent...

~Random Thought #2~ I need to trim my nails...
heywilma: (Default)
Heh. My wart's gone funny. The little scabby thing's fallen off and now it looks like a volcano thingie. (And it's completely painless)

Washing the dishes with cold water during winter is not fun. I do not recommend it. Of course, if you want to try it, I'm not stopping you.

SO! Nothin else really interesting is happening in my life. I've been watching too much Channel V, and now I have this whole pile of CPop stuff just going through my head playing themselves one by one...

~Random thought~ My toes are cold...

Well. That was strange.

I should go watch some more TV now. I think there's a rerun of my favourite show... Adieu!
heywilma: (Default)
It snowed yesterday! YAY! It was all pretty and white and fluffy and all. Was going to take photos (per request of Ittykat), but then the camera went wack, and thus, no photos.

Was kind of sad when I saw this little white kitten in the snow, and it was blind and it was all frozen and couldn't move and... :'(

On a slightly happier note... I'm going to visit my kitties soon! (Yay) Though I guess, now they're not technically mine, but actually my aunt's...

So, eh. Nothing else happening. Mum's busy packing, and she's already packed 1 1/2 suitcases. I had no idea we were going to bring so much stuff back to Aus, then I spotted all the CDs that I bought, and then I realised that even 3 suitcases may not be enough for what we're taking...
heywilma: (Default)
So. Fun day. Though I suppose that walking for 5 hours is not considered 'fun' by many people. But I didn't come out empty handed. Yep. Bought cool jeans and a couple of DVDs.

Ehhh. Dad's birthday today. Just came back from celebrating, and am very full.

*Burp*

See.

Went bowling yesterday. I think I pulled something. Scored 87, which I think is really sad.

Am looking forward to a day of mahjong with my grandparents tomorrow.
heywilma: (Default)
I have a reason to fear that word from now on....

*Someone says 'wart'*

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

*Hem*

What happened was... yesterday mum and I went to a friend's place, and she's a nurse person, and she has a permit and all these equipment and whatnot. So, anyway. As mum told her about my wart, her eyes sort of lit up and she said, 'I can burn it off for you.'

I said no, I would rather the painless option of that little pastey thing where you only need to drip some on the wart and cover it with a bandaid.

But, no, mum had to go and say yes and of course the nurse person got all excited (she must like to see people suffer) and got all this stuff out and went and BURNT OFF MY STUPID WART.

It hurts, I tell you that.

Now my skin has gone all black where the wart used to be, and it hurts to move my wrist too much, and I can't get any water on it, which means that I can't shower for a couple of days...

*Shudder*

Not cool, dude!

P.S. Itty, how do you customise the little commenty thing?

I'm bored. Bored bored bored bored bored. So I've resorted to playing Solitaire on the computer by myself. The computer is being a bitch. I dislike it.

In other news, I just realised that I look like Clark Kent with my new glasses. Well, Clark Kent bar the long hair and the boobs and the lack of an adams apple. But otherwise, strikingly similar.

In other news of other news. Someone commented on my very first journal entry! Huzzah! Even though it's my best friend and it's like what she does, but hey, still makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Fuzzy kind of like what Kurt is like outside... but that's just besides the point.

So anyway! My holidays are really very unproductive so far, but then again, that's what holidays are supposed to be, unproductive! But unproductive usually means boring, which takes me back to my first thought. I'm bored.

Though I suppose that I shouldn't be so bored, since I can go and shop and watch TV (60 odd channels, and that's without cable!). I'm not going to complain.

But I am going to complain about the lack of snow. It's the middle of winter in part of a country that is usually very cold when it gets to this part of the year, and it only snowed once. Grrr. Not fair.

I think I should stop. I'm babbling again...

~Rant over~

The 5 most common ‘look’s in average Chinese TV drama

After a few weeks of treatment to various different types of Chinese TV dramas (and after several cases of my brain dribbling out of my ears), I’ve concluded that there are 5 common ‘look’s in a series that will always be there regardless of the time, place and situation.

#5- The ‘I-can’t-believe-I’m-actually-doing-this’ Look

This look usually only works on a male character, and is used as comic relief. The most likely situation for this is when a female character talks him into doing something he wouldn’t be caught dead doing usually. For example, in this one series, the male character is a wanted criminal (since he’s the main character, he is, of course, convicted wrongly), and he needs a disguise to get past palace guards. His sister dresses him up as a woman, and he does the ‘I-can’t-believe-I’m-doing-this’ look.

#4- The Pouty Look

The Pouty Look is a special look that can either make you laugh out loud, or puke into the nearest bin, depending on how good looking the actress is. And yes, it is a look that will only work on girls; otherwise it’ll just be strange. Unless the actor who is pouting is actually homosexual, then that’s okay.

This look can work well with the Look above, when the male character says that he doesn’t want to do whatever the female character suggested, enter the Pouty Look. Since the male character is a big softie, upon seeing the Pouty Look, he will have to go along with whatever the female character asks him to do. It can be very persuasive (it’s persuasion value is up there with the sad puppy dog face), and is used as often as possible, if the female character is manipulative enough.

#3- The Betrayed/Anguished Look

A winner for those smart yet naïve handsome guys. Occurs when the male character finds out that his best friend is actually working for the evil guys, and is about to saw the main character’s head off. It usually ends up with the evil best friend being stopped and killed just before he is about to make the fatal blow to the cute, naïve guy. But, hey, it’s a good opportunity for the whole ‘betrayed’ thing.

#2- The Slightly Sensual Look

IMPORTANT NOTE: Never try this yourself! And, guys, don’t even think about it; this look is reserved for girls. Pretty girls. I actually attempted this in front of a mirror (I am so vain), and it is so damn scary, I tell you.

This one only works when there is dramatic and/or sexual tension between characters (preferably male and female; Chinese TV dramas never really promote homosexuality). The situation usually is when the male and female main characters are both wounded and hiding out in a cave, and the male has to risk his life for one thing or another. At this point the female will attempt to stop him from getting himself killed, but because the male is heroic (moronic, more like), he refuses to listen and gives the ‘Tortured Look’ (see below) and says that he doesn’t want to leave her, but he has to do this because of a promise blah blah blah. So then the female character sheds a tear, and suddenly sexual tension fills the air, as it is most likely that it’s the last time the male and female character will ever see each other again (while, sitting in front of the TV, audiences yawn and make themselves some coffee). The male puts on the some soft expression and caress the female’s hand gently (false hope) and the female closes her eyes and parts her lips slightly (this is the ‘Slightly Sensual Look’ at work) while her breathing quickens, as she wishes for a first/last kiss. Then the male gets up and leaves. Therefore the female is crestfallen and cries herself silly on a rock.

#1- The Tortured Look

Well. I think everyone is familiar with the Tortured Look. Usually only works on male characters, but is actresses can handle their emotions well enough. This look occurs when the male character is in a moral dilemma, or when he is in pain. The best effect by a Tortured Look is when worn by a handsome actor. But be warned, those unfamiliar with the Tortured Look: be prepared for it; if it’s done right… very hot.

Some times the Tortured Look is very hard to imagine. Just think of Frodo in The Two Towers, when he’s in pain, and you will get the picture. That’s right. Now what did I say? Yes. Very hot.
