Okay, y'all Australians on my flist, this is for an assignment I'm writing. If you could answer the questions, and don't mind being paraphrased/taken out of context, maybe, it'll be great.

1. Do you watch Big Brother?
2. If not, what would it take for you to watch it?
3. What do you think of the promos being show on Channel Ten for it?
4. Do you think that BB needs its spinoff shows? (BB Adults Only- previously Uncut, BB Up Late, Friday Night Games, BB Insider etc.)

This article is eating my brain.

1. No. (watched first season heaps though...coz it was new and exciting.)

2. If it could be new and interesting again...which is pretty much impossible. There's just nothing they can throw in that won't be either already done or just going too far...in my opinion. The reason I watch other reality shows is because there's a lot of unexpectedness...Ie: Survivor or the Amazing Race...and also competitiveness...but apart from the Friday Night Games stuff there's not much competitivenss...just bitchiness between really ignorant sounding people (which has limited merits)

3. I think that it does need it's spin off shows to be successful. I don't think it's enough on it's own at the moment, they have to make each part 'exclusive' etc.

hey....there's 2 number 2....

2. I think the promos are OTT but are what is needed to recruit more viewers...I know that many people do watch it...but it doesn't make me like heaps of ads that i'm not interested in.

1. No.
2. A lobotomy.
2a. Haven't seen them.
3. No. More profitable and less annoying to put the 'choice bits' straight to DVD and market them that way.

Excellent, thanks!

1. I'll pretty much watch anything on channel 10, sbs or abc. Last year it took me three weeks before I bothered to change the channel when it came on. There are probably only three shows on TV I actually watch though. The rest is just background noise while I'm on msn or doing some homework that doesn't involve thinking (i.e. calcualtions). So, sometimes?
2. Hrmm, two sets of housematers. One for uncut and one for everything else (the second set are angry opionated people).
3. Promos?
4. to rate well? I don't know.. I guess so

Promos- like, the ads?

Ok, I don't think anything of them. I don't conciously watch ads.

Yeah, it's a bit weird. After having a TV in your room for a couple of years you conciously watch a very limited number of things

1. God no.
2. A totally full frontal labotomy.
3. I don't watch Channel 10 anymore: Big Brother promotions, along with other promotions, are some of the reasons.
4. No.

Also - I swear that I didn't read the replies before I commented - and it's purely a coincidence that someone wrote the same response to question 2 as I did.

BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING.

1. On an off. When I do watch it, I feel like every minute is stripping away part of my intelligence.
2. Monetary contributions above $1. I guess I dont value my intelligence that much.
3. They are quite stupid. All the hype they make about their 'big surprises' makes the 'big surprises' quite disappointing.
4. No way. Ten should try to obtain more ratings another way (ie. air more House)

1. No. I watched a bit of the first season, but I got sick of it fairly soon.
2. Difficult question. I probably wouldn't watch it at all. Even if they did something that got me curious enough to watch a bit of it, I doubt I'd continue. I'm not a reality tv person.
3. You mean the ones they had on before it started, talking about the World First With Capital Letters? I was curious as to what it was they were talking about, but more in a "They're really making a sixth season? Oh no, what are they donig this time" way then actual interest.
4. If I was going to be nasty I'd say that Big Brother takes up too much television time as it is, they don't need to take up any more. But I'm not. Instead I'll say that if they think enough people will watch a spinoff or two, then they might as well go ahead. But I think if they do too much of it, people will just start getting tired of the it all.

Let me clarify my answer to 4. Firstly I meant "getting tired of it all", without the extra "the". Secondly, I know an awful lot of people are already tired of it. Some people aren't yet though, or they wouldn't have gotten to a sixth season. They'll have to take care not to lose any more of their audience.

1. NO!!!!! (well, ok. i watched the first one. but still...ewww.)
2. Someone I knew to be on it.
3. I have pay TV i dont watch Channel 10 :)
4. They are probably the only reason they get ratings, y'know with all the sex they show.

1) nope
2) maybe if i was deaf, blind, and mute. and paraplegic. so i physically couldn't change the channel. or if they had hot indie rock stars who didn't shower, played music all the time and back-handed the annoying groupie sluts more often. or if it was even remotely interesting. or if more of the aforementioned groupie sluts got killed off in interesting ways instead of being evicted, then all the indie rock stars invited me over to live forever, and then paul banks form interpol moved in, and we lived happily ever after. not off topic at all.
3) they really irritate me, because they're all..."we have a massive suprise!! oooo, whats it gonna be?? ooooo!1" tghen its turns out to be crap. if the massive suprise was that gretal was a man (which it wouldn't be, because seriously, how obvious is it? but to make a point, some people would be massively suprised) then maybe the months of ads would be withstandable. but probly not.
4) what they're trying to do is get the ratings required to keep up one primetime show by rolling out this whole net of big boher shows. and guh. no thanks.
