Well, see, the thing is its serious fiction. It's really been a while since I've read serious fiction. Like, Kathy lent me the Time Traveller's Wife recently but this is a much more serious style of book. And it's good, it's very fiction but its also very well written.

It took a lot of getting used to to begin with. Like, firstly, it doesn't have chapters, so even something like that was a bit hard for me to deal with, but it goes beyond not having chapters in terms of how its written. Its full of sub-stories that are very relevant and well constructed in the story but kinda random so its got nothing of the well-ordered chapter structure. For all that though, it all comes together into a very smooth flowing story that you'd have to make a concious effort to stop reading because the story itself doesn't 'stop' very much.

It's very good but it's a bit of a commitment as far as books though. Fairly intellectual fiction so you'd want to have read some lighter stuff before and I'm going to be reading something light after it too.

Sorry for the length, I'm glad you asked me though. I kinda want to talk about it... but I don't know anyone who's read it. Suppose I can wait, I'm like 10% of the way through and it's ~650 pages.
